La Locanda del Postino in situated on the esplanade in the western part of the island of Salina.Crowned and sheltered by an amphitheatre of mountains, it overlooks the sea as far as the eye can see, offering a spectacular view of the islands of Filicudi and Alicudi, with stunning sunset on them.The sea is 300 mt. distant, walking down the cliff on a footpath wihich winds across a hollow.You can reach the sea going as well down stone stairs which lead to the "Balate", a tiny resort built in the rock. Here as been shot the film "Il Postino", with the Italian actor Massimo Troisi. |

The guesthouse offers 10 rooms finely furnished in the Aeolian style, with mini bar, air conditioning and TV on request.From the bedrooms with 2, 3 or 4 beds, you can enjoy the enchanting sunset on Pollara, with the shapes of the islands of Filicudi and Alicudi on the background.All bedrooms are en suit and have private spacious patio on the front, to relax in a pleasant atmosphere. |

L'idea di realizzare La Locanda del Postino nasce dal nostro profondo amore per l'isola di Salina e le meraviglie che offre. La prima volta che abbiamo soggiornato a Pollara siamo rimasti incantati dalla quiete, l'aria tersa, i magnifici tramonti e le tante specie di animali che vi dimorano. E' come vivere in un isola nell'isola. Pollara è molto diversa da tutte le altre località e conserva il fascino di un passato che ancora ci appartiene. In inverno è abitata da una piccolissima comunità di circa 70 persone. |

La casa ha una sua lunga storia. Apparteneva alla famiglia del parroco, ospitava una biblioteca molto fornita ed era la casa più grande e centrale del paese. Purtroppo poco è rimasto delle antiche vestigia, ma il nostro tentativo è stato quello di mantenere le caratteristiche fondamentali della struttura recuperando l'antico palmento e il patio "bagghiu" che circondava la casa. Abbiamo così realizzato il nostro sogno di vivere, almeno per una parte dell'anno, a Pollara; ciò che offriamo, oltre ai servizi, è la nostra cordialità e disponibilità perché la vostra sia……. la vacanza che desiderate! |
