Bugilfezza was the first
estate in the County of Modica and in origin it was
surely the biggest one.Its name comes from the Arab
language: Burg-el Feiz (Feiz land). When Ruggero
d'Altavilla's successors - who reconquered to Arab
people actual province of Ragusa - became Counts of
Modica, granted Bugilfezza, to Gualtieroda Mohac as
recompense, since this local noble helped them in
the achievement;

The son Rinaldo succeeded
Gualtiero, he founded the Templar house of Lentini;
then the estate was given to Lancia-Mohac family
and to other families of the island until the
abolition of feudalism in 1812. Bugilfezza became
one of the most aspired properties of of the
district since it is next to the chief town, about
350 metres above sea level, having a mild climate
and thanks to its level ground too. We have a lot
of memories linking us to the farm of Bugilfezza,
that is not big so today, for this reason we have
decided to turn the ancient farm into a functional
tourist area, we kindly take care of: through the
typical "baglio"(court yard), formed by strong
squared limestone paving ,

You reach the flats, soberly furnished, equipped
with all comforts, which have covered verandahs
looking on to the grass planted with trees of the
typical "Kiusa". It is an enclosed private garden,
which absolutely guarantees calm, in a contest
suggesting to gust typical holiday of the end of
1800, since our farm holidays kept the same
atmosphere of that age, without changing the
environment: out of the flats it is possible to
look at cattle at grass and Sicilian writers'
descriptions of landscape mind.

|
If You come from Syracuse at SS 115 at Km 344
You have to come on to the crossroad for Cava
d'Ispica. The farm is 200 metres distant steeped in
the most silent and relaxing country of this corner
of Sicily.
