The only directions you need for the Gutkowski
are a couple of cheerfully peeling, powder blue and
sand coloured buildings. Two former fishermen's
houses overlooking the sea, they are the only blue
buildings on Ortygia, the tiny, ancient
island-heart of Syracuse. While their exterior
captures the faded grandeur of the town - 2,700
years of Greek and Roman history - step inside to a
breathtakingly pure and fresh modernism.'
