Las remodelaciones a las que el Illa d'Or ha sido sometido desde su fundación en 1929 han respetado deliberadamente esta atmósfera, de manera que es fácil imaginarse a Agatha Christie desayunando en una mesa apartada junto a la piscina, observando al resto de los huéspedes en busca de un argumento. Ciertamente lo encontró cuando se hospedó en este hotel en los años treinta, y fruto de ello es «Problema en Pollensa» (Ed. Molino, 1997). Leer este libro durante la estancia en el hotel sirve para descubrir la impresión que causó en la escritora, que lo rebautizó en sus páginas como Hotel Pins d'Or. Desde entonces han pasado muchas cosas, pero han cambiado pocas. |

Miguel Salom, el director del hotel, sabe bien que su patrimonio reside en el estilo y lo refleja en todos los detalles, así como en el trato exquisito hacia los huéspedes. Para disfrutarlo con las mejores vistas sobre el Mediterráneo hay que elegir la Suite 224. No es la única que se asoma a la bahía de Pollença, pero sí cuenta con una terraza privada orientada al sur y al oeste que recibe la luz del sol durante casi todo el día. Los 70 metros cuadrados del interior se distribuyen en un salón, un comedor, un aseo, un amplio dormitorio dotado con vestidor y un gran cuarto de baño con ducha y bañera de burbujas, todo ello vestido con cierto aire británico que convive bien con la exclusividad de Pollença. |
