Penally Abbey is a gem. It
stands head and shoulders above anywhere else to
stay on the beautiful southern shores of the
Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. The hotel offers
the rare experience of true country house
accommodation by the sea. Commanding spectacular
views across Carmarthen Bay, it stands close to
picturesque Tenby, magnificent beaches and cliff
scenery. The hotel occupies the site of a
6th-century abbey, and within its 5 acres of lush
woodland and garden there is a ruined medieval
chapel. A sense of history is preserved within the
dignified Grade II listed mansion itself, which has
been lovingly restored and decorated with antiques
and period furniture &endash; most bedrooms have
four-poster beds.

The hotel's success is also due
to its fastidious standards yet unfussy atmosphere,
a reflection of the personalities of your genial
hosts Steve and Elleen Warren. The Warrens and
their welcoming staff are renowned for their
hospitality, and have the awards to prove it. The
food &endash; delicious but unpretentious, again
mirroring the style of the hotel &endash; has also
won praises. Dinner is a romantic candlelit affair
with tempting seasonal delicacies. Penally Abbey is
the perfect base in which to unwind. Guests can
enjoy a dip in the small indoor pool or a game of
snooker before dinner. And right on the doorstep is
excellent golf, including a challenging 18-hole
championship links course, the oldest in Wales.
