Welsh Rarebits hotels have
a reputation for hospitality. Saying that, there
are some that go the extra mile, make that extra
effort. Bre and Graham Carrington-Sykes are born
hoteliers, though they wouldn't thank us for
describing them as such. Sychnant Pass House, as
its name implies, has the ambience of a country
house rather than a hotel. Bre's welcome and warm
personality are legendary amongst Sychnant Pass's
many satisfied customers. And they also sing the
praises of the freshness and quality of the food, a
result of Graham's skills in the kitchen.
Everything works seamlessly well in this
comfortable, convivial place. You can spend hours
in the big, warmly decorated sitting rooms with
their equally big sofas, or wander around the
beautiful grounds in a peaceful setting high above
the medieval town of Conwy and the North Wales
coast.

Upstairs mirrors
downstairs in elegance, with luxuriously appointed
suites and rooms, some with galleries and terraces,
all with those extras &endash; the deluxe
toiletries, complimentary sherry, etc &endash; that
you'd expect to find in a hotel of this quality.
Bre and Graham are not the kind of people to rest
on their laurels. They are constantly improving
Sychnant Pass: the latest addition, opening Easter
2005, is a large indoor heated swimming pool and
leisure area complete with sauna, hot tub,
gymnasium and coffee shop. Sychnant Pass is run to
a winning formula &endash; it's all about
fastidious standards without fussiness or, if you
prefer, laid-back luxury. Don't expect formality.
By the same token, don't expect to be a stranger
for long.
