Welsh Rarebits hotels have a
reputation for individuality, none more so than
Ynyshir Hall. This exceptional country retreat
exudes warmth, relaxation, supreme comfort and
exquisite taste. There's an original voice at work
at Ynyshir &endash; that of owners Rob and Joan
Reen. Rob, a professional artist, has brought a
painter's eye to Ynyshir's interiors, which glow
with carefully chosen colour schemes, working in
harmony with antiques, rugs, Welsh pottery and
Rob's own bold canvases. The Reens are ideal hosts,
providing a personal welcome that perfectly
complements the character of their fine Georgian
house, which in the 19th century served as a hidden
retreat for Queen Victoria. The richly decorated
surroundings are unashamedly luxurious.

The bedrooms, which include
three suites, are beautifully appointed, with huge
antique beds in most. It's not surprising that
Ynyshir continues to win many awards, not just for
its idyllic surroundings but also for its food and
hospitality. The restaurant's impeccable cuisine is
in the modern style, making the best possible use
of fresh local ingredients &endash; wild salmon,
lamb, game and seafood. The wine list is equally
distinguished. And if all of this were not enough,
Ynyshir Hall stands in its own beautifully
landscaped grounds on the shores of the Dyfi
Estuary, next door to one of Britain's finest bird
reserves. The hotel is surrounded by some of Mid
Wales's loveliest hidden haunts, including the
beautiful wooded 'Artists' Valley'.
